MUSIC & LYRICS
Funkytown by Lipps Inc
There are some songs that stay inside your head forever. Songs that you'll find yourself humming for no rhyme or reason several years after you first heard them. Funkytown by Lipps Inc. is one song that has refused to go away. Written by Steven Greenberg and performed by Lipps Inc, the 1980 disco hit was sung by Cynthia Johnson. I have no idea who these people are but I enjoyed their music, especially the very funky beat of Funkytown, from the album Mouth to Mouth. It was a big hit in many countries including India. Check it out below.

For me it's mostly Black Sabbath tunes. :)
ReplyDeleteCharles, I used to listen to Black Sabbath in college. Their cassettes were in big demand at the time. I still have a few of their songs that I need to hear again.
DeleteI am very prone to earwigs so I have to not listen to certain songs at all.
ReplyDeletePatti, I listen to all kinds of songs though I enjoy listening to beat music.
DeleteWell, this is the kind of music that takes me back to my hedonistic, indulgent dance club days. (I'm exhausted just remembering certain nights.) Thanks, Prashant, at least one person enjoyed your nostalgic nod to the 1980s.
ReplyDeleteJohn, I'm glad you liked it. This sort of music takes me a long way back too. I still listen to a lot of songs that I used to listen to in the 70 and 80s. Some of these songs my wife and I have passed on to our children and I'm glad they like them too.
DeleteI listened to this song and loved it. Have heard it before, of course, but not this long version, probably. Thanks for brightening my day.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Tracy. It has a kind of beat and rhythm that stays with you. One of the great disco numbers of the 80s.
