Jamie Uys' love for nature and the animal kingdom is evident in the films I mentioned. I haven't seen any of his documentaries about species of animals and they might be part of his portfolio of 24 directorial ventures. It never occurred to me that THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY was made during apartheid. This particular film has been panned for its racist overtone but I found absolutely nothing wrong with it. For me, it was pure fun all the way.Prashant C. I never tire of watching THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY. I have an old VCD though the film is now shown regularly on television. Great fun!Prashant C. I'm surprised this documentary hasn't been shown on cable television.Prashant C. No message, no narration, just an immersion in their presence. Surprisingly powerful by contrast with films of animals meant to be entertaining. Watching such a film, you can begin to see how much we anthropomorphize animals in an attempt to "understand" them.

I remember seeing THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY back in the days of apartheid. It wasn't sure what to make of it. It made me think of how African-Americans were long stereotyped as comical in Hollywood movies. Maybe I'd see it differently today.Ron Scheerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15357501069513854664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169151311037688512.post-25131711002218212482013-01-15T19:47:12.987-08:002013-01-15T19:47:12.987-08:00I remember this in bits and pieces since I was ver...I remember this in bits and pieces since I was very young when I watched it. But I do remember those intoxicated elephants. Such fun. Also loved Gods must be crazy.
