Sometimes being a hero isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

I too had a crush on Saxon, Patti. :)

I think I must have seen this film since I saw almost every western that ever came to our neighborhood theater.

Great post, Prashant. As usual. :)Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169151311037688512.post-9745609979945373352013-01-29T17:31:58.546-08:002013-01-29T17:31:58.546-08:00This looks great! I hope you'll have a chance to seek out more Audie Murphy movies in the future.Jeff Flugelhttp://thestalkingmoon.weebly.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169151311037688512.post-13026383594171852762013-01-29T11:45:13.132-08:002013-01-29T11:45:13.132-08:00Although I have never seen this, I had quite a cru...Although I have never seen this, I had quite a crush on John Saxon as a kid. pattinase (abbott)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02916037185235335846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169151311037688512.post-39629239578717901762013-01-29T10:51:14.375-08:002013-01-29T10:51:14.375-08:00John Saxon! I think that came close to Murphy in his own life. Some will say that his military heroism left him with undiagnosed PTSD and attendant troubles, like alcoholism.

The role of the "half-breed" in popular American fiction/film would make a PhD thesis. In the early fiction I'm reading, he or she is usually scorned as half savage. Then you see the shift in mid-century toward a portrayal that is more positive, in part because of the Indian's assumed closeness to Nature. The tipping point is maybe around 1970, but it was a decades-long process, and my theory is that western writers led the way.

Ron Scheerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15357501069513854664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169151311037688512.post-16284167275639620962013-01-29T06:28:27.665-08:002013-01-29T06:28:27.665-08:00Loving the poster!Loving the poster!@parridhlanternhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12793548943992250238noreply@blogger.com
